I'd rather be playing with those cute,
little monkeys in Belize!

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Belize!

After arriving at the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport in Belize, you will be greeted with a smile by your escort from Falk Custom Adventures.

We will then be transported to the fantastic thatched-roof cabanas that will be our home for the next three nights, Crystal Paradise Resort.

Crystal Paradise Resort is an amazing little place secluded deep in the jungle, filled with Belizean culture and owned and operated by the very kind Tut family.

This evening we have a home-cooked Belizean meal and meet the rest of our group.

Day 2: Xunantunich and Canoeing the Macal River

After having a home-cooked Belizean breakfast, we hop into our vehicles, take a short drive up the road, and after crossing the remote Mopan River on a "hand-cranked" ferry, we are finally able to view the first signs of an ancient Mayan civilization, Xunantunich!

We will spend much of our time exploring the site and learning about the Mayan culture. If you're up for a quick workout, feel free to climb to the top of the tallest pyramid, El Castillo, where you will be left absolutely breathless by the amazing 360-degree views.

Later in the day, we will paddle gently down the Macal River in our canoes as we take in the sights and sounds of the jungle.

Day 3: Some serious adventure! Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave

Actun Tunichil Muknal (or "ATM" for short) is one of the most amazing places you will ever visit!

After breakfast, we begin our adventure to the lost world. We will drive a short distance, followed by a 45-minute hike through the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve where we will cross over three jungle streams before coming to the massive entrance of the cavern surrounded by crystal blue waters.

As we enter the cave, we are stepping back over 2,000 years in time. We will venture deep into the cave, learning about the Mayan underworld, stopping at burial chambers to view the calcified human remains of ritual sacrifices, and admire the Mayan artifacts that have lain undisturbed for thousands of years.

Day 4: Guatemala, monkeys and on the set of “Survivor”

Today we leave the Cayo District of Belize and visit the country of Guatemala.

Our first stop is the Mayan ruin Yaxha. This may not sound familiar, but if you’re a fan of the American TV show “Survivor,” you will surely recognize Yaxha as being the set of “Survivor Guatemala,” season 11.

We will spend our time exploring this archeological site while listening to the singing birds, checking out the local Morelett Crocodiles from a distance and watching the howler monkeys and spider monkeys above.

When we are through with our tour, we will continue on to our jungle lodge where we will lay our heads for the next two nights.

Overnight: Tikal Jungle Lodge (Dinner)

Day 5: Tikal: The greatest of all Mayan cities

This morning we take an early morning walk and watch as the jungle comes alive.

After breakfast, our mission is to explore the greatest of all Mayan cities, Tikal. Tikal is an absolute wonder. You will feel as though you have stepped into the children's tale, “The Jungle Book,” with the massive Mayan temples surrounding you, the jungle’s soundtrack playing in the background, and the abundance of wildlife such as the screaming howler monkeys, the squawking parrots, spider monkeys, gray foxes and coati-mundis roaming right in front of you.

We will sit atop a pyramid and wonder what life was like over a thousand years ago when this city was alive with over 100,000 Mayan residents.

Day 6: Our own private island

Today we leave Guatemala and return to Belize.

On our way to Dangriga we will stop for lunch in San Ignacia and then take a refreshing dip in the cool, turquoise waters of the Inland Blue Hole and St. Herman's Cave.

Once fully refreshed, we will jump into our boat to transfer to our private island. Our destination is the beach cabanas of Pelicans Pouch South Water Cayes where we will spend the rest of the day relaxing in our hammocks.

Day 7 & 8: Relax, Recoup and Reflect

This is your time to kick up your feet, relax and reflect on all the amazing things you have seen and all the wonderful people you have met.

Feel free to lounge around in your hammock, take a walk on the sandy beaches or paddle your kayak around the island while peering through the crystal blue waters.

On both days you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the exotic marine life as we will be taken out by boat to the nearby reef patch for some absolutely stunning snorkeling.

Day 9: We must say our goodbyes

After breakfast, the very kind staff at Pelicans Pouch will get an exhausting workout as they chase us around the island trying to round us up. Unfortunately, they are very fast and they will eventually catch us and put us on a boat for our transfer back to mainland Dangriga.

From Dangriga we will transfer back to the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport where we must say our goodbyes and catch our flights home.
